Cisco IT is looking for a Software Engineering Manager who is interested in joining the Product Lifecycle development organization. You will have the opportunity to enables the engineering team to improve and optimize the engineering processes and infrastructure to deliver a great experience to the engineering organization for building products. Directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function, and a software quality assurance function for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.

On this role, you will:

  • Manages professional employees and/or leaders. Is accountable for the performance and results of a team.
  • Adapts area plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Provides functional or technical guidance to team and may act as an advisor to colleagues.
  • Work with software development teams in an Agile DevOps model
  • Serves as the point person for interaction with multi-functional teams to eliminate blockers and hold technical discussions and solve immediate problems.
  • Applies advanced understanding of team's technical area and develops breadth of understanding in other areas: Provides technical expertise in a specific area of accountability

You will proactively engage with multi-functional and cross-organizational engineering teams and actively work with Architects & software engineers (developers and testers), product managers to develop new software.

Communication, both written and verbal, must be excellent, and an ability and desire to work with teams that span the globe is needed. Flexibility is key and the ability to work from home is needed.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelors + 8 years of related experience, or Masters + 6 years of related experience, or PhD + 3 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of leading and running in the software development and implementation.
  • Leads the daily activities of software engineers in the development of specific modules/applications.
  • Typically leads teams working on medium-to-large features from technical design through completion.
  • End user customer/partner or developer community experience
  • Proven experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving program issues.
  • Upholds standards (e.g., coding standards and review) and enables team members to do the same.
  • Evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design and security optimization, and production issues and ensures technical quality throughout the development process.
