Responsibilities

• Database Design and Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of SQL and NoSQL databases to meet business requirements, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into appropriate database solutions.
• Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL and NoSQL database management systems (DBMS). Ensure data integrity, availability, and security through regular backups, patching, and monitoring.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance issues in SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and data partitioning. Implement best practices for efficient data retrieval and storage in both types of databases.
• Database Security: Develop and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access in SQL and NoSQL databases. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and industry standards.
• Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of database administrators and developers working with SQL and NoSQL databases. Set performance objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and identify training needs to enhance the team's skills and expertise.
• Database Governance: Establish and enforce database governance standards specific to SQL and NoSQL databases. Define data modelling practices, naming conventions, and documentation guidelines. Ensure adherence to data management best practices and compliance requirements.
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, network administrators, and system administrators, to ensure seamless integration of SQL and NoSQL databases with applications and infrastructure. Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role, with expertise in both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Strong understanding of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch, including data modelling, indexing, and scalability considerations.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database technologies, such as Amazon RDS, Azure Cosmos DB, or Google Cloud Fire store.
• Experience with data security and privacy principles in SQL and NoSQL databases, including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python) for automating database tasks and troubleshooting.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of database professionals.
