Job Description
Responsibilities:
Content Management:
- Update and maintain content on the school district website.
- Ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of incoming information.
- Optimize website pages for SEO, including meta tags, headings, and alt tags.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the communications team to align web content with overall district messaging.
- Work closely with different departments, school administrators, and other stakeholders to gather and update content.
- Work closely with graphic designers, developers, and other team members to ensure that all website content is visually appealing and user-friendly.
Design and Layout:
- Optimize the visual appeal and user experience of the website.
- Optimize image assets for online use.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify broken links, outdated information, and other issues.
- Ensure website compliance with accessibility standards and district policies.
- Test the website for mobile web access and ease of use.
Familiarity using:
- HTML and CSS.
- Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Joomla)
- Image editing software (e.g., Photoshop).
- icrosoft OfficeM
Additional nice to have skills:
- JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks.
- Knowledge of UI/UX best practices.
- Experience using Finalsite Composer, Blackboard WCM, or other educational CMS.
- Experience managing academic sites.
- Graphic design skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Web Design, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience as a Web Editor or similar role. Familiarity with accessibility standards and SEO best practices.
