In the Customer Service & Support (CSS) team we are looking for people with a passion for delivering customer success. As a Technical Support Engineer you will own, troubleshoot and solve complex customer technical issues. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

Responsibilities

Response and Resolution

  • You own, investigate and solve complex customer technical issues and act as a advisor to the customer, collaborating within and across teams and leveraging troubleshooting tools and practices

Readiness

  • You lead in building communities with peer delivery roles and share your knowledge through readiness programs, technical coaching and mentoring of others.
  • You deepen your technical and professional proficiency to enable you to resolve complex customer issues, through training and readiness.

Product/Process Improvement

  • You engage with Microsoft Engineering/ Supportability teams to investigate potential product defects and help develop automation techniques and diagnostic tools driving Microsoft product improvements

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

10+ years technical support, technical consulting experience, or information technology experience and bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology (IT), or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as VMware administrator
  • 5+ years of experience working with advanced networking technologies (such as routing, switching, Virtual Private Networks).
  • 5+ years of experience working with Linux (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu or OEL)
  • 5+ years of experience with hands on troubleshooting and technical resolution
  • 2+ years of experience working with Cloud Technology/Hyperscaler (Azure/AWS/GCP)

Preferred Certifications

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) Certification.

VMware

Technical expertise:

  • Strong working knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXI, vCenter, VM management.
  • Familiarity with HCX and NSX and VMware backup, DR, and orchestration tools.

Operating System: Linux (RHEL,SUSE, Ubuntu or OEL)

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Security, OS (operating systems) Internals concepts.
  • Familiar with OS troubleshooting, Performance, OS Update, RDP/SSH, Licensing, OS Boot
  • Understanding of Virtualization concepts and virtual system administration.
  • basic understanding of Windows OS

Networking

  • Familiarity with networking concepts including VIPs (Virtual IP), NAT (network address translation), DNS (Domain Name System)
  • Familiarity with networking tools (ping, Tracert, Tracemon, wire shark, etc.)
  • Understanding of load balancing, VPN (virtual private networks) technologies preferred
  • Understanding of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model and related concepts

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years there after
