Job Description
The arrangements with convertors are basis Right-to-buy (Directed buying) of Paper and Board from 5-6 paper mills at negotiated costs by UL. There are 5/6 active convertors suppliers servicing 113 UL manufacturing units (29 own, 84 CM). There are ~ 81 supplier locations all over South Asia.
There are 5 BGs who are our critical stakeholders – Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Home Care, Nutrition, Ice cream.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
A successful Unilever procurement professional is expected to be:
- Leading the Unilever’s packaging sustainably business model, connected with Unilever and the business agenda to deliver our Sustainability program for paper and board: optimized specifications, recycled content usage, reduce waste, FSC compliance, Audit compliance etc.
- To develop, implement and drive Unilever procurement strategies for all SA countries for Folding Cartons and Tea packaging
- To assess, identify and select the appropriate supplier base and set up new capacities that would meet the growing needs of the business
- To directly lead or co-ordinate large procurement projects him/herself to support the SA Business strategies
- To deliver cost savings/value creation based on sourcing strategies and compliance management.
- To continuously improve ways of working and optimize procurement activities
- To support Innovation programmes, partnering with Global and Cluster divisional teams
- Outstanding in idea generation, ideas that are forward thinking including Smart Product ideas, and that contribute to creating sustained competitive advantage in Procurement Value Creation
- A strategic Influencer - Strong at selling ideas to his/her business partners, internally and externally, translating these into effective proposals conveying the total value and communicating it accordingly
- Being a self-starter and outstanding in execution – has an eagle-eye for detail
- Uses the Innovator’s DNA – act as an entrepreneur, finds creative solutions to roadblocks, adjusts plans based on data, sets trends and is willing to lead, follow or get out of the way
- Be a natural leader, the ability to take lead on driving cross functional initiatives from conceptualization to implementation
- Embraces the Digital Agenda – utilizes and leverages digital insights to exploit opportunities, create new capabilities and bring value to UL

What You’ll Need To Succeed
- University Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Mgmt or Engineering or relatable subject. MBA is a plus
- Minimum 7-10 years’ Procurement and Packaging Development experience
- A proven track record in successful negotiations
- Long-term strategy planning & execution
- Very Strong Analytical, Interpretation and Communication skills: data/information analysis and presentation. Ability to read markets and convey findings along with recommendations, to the business
- Work with the Legal Counsel to finalize commercial agreements using Unilever contractual operating frameworks
- Proficiency in English
- Financial savviness
- Comfort with systems & Digital tools: SAP CLM, MS Office, Buyers’ Console, Power BI , Anaplan etc.
- Pro-active, Complex stakeholder management & communication experience: across ranks and functions and with extended teams viz. R&D, SC, Finance, Business Groups etc
- Change management
- Knowledge and experience forecasting, planning processes, market operations, supply chains
- Experience in working in a virtual team and regional/global scope
- Experience in leading a team and people management
